Edward Horowitz

Director, Chairman

Edward is Chairman of EdsLink, providing advisory and technology consulting services. He currently serves as a Board Commissioner to Indonesia-based LinkNet, and on the Boards of Fairpoint Communications, Globecomm Systems, and The Tennis Channel. In 2015, Edward was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Board of the First Responder Network Authority. Most recently, Edward served as Co-CEO of Encompass Digital Media. Prior to Encompass, he served as CEO of SES AMERICOM, a leading satellite operator. Prior to forming EdsLink, Edward was EVP of Citigroup’s Advanced Development unit and CEO of its e-Citi unit. Prior to Citigroup, Edward was SVP at Viacom and CEO of Viacom Interactive Media and prior to Viacom, Edward held various senior management positions at Home Box Office (HBO).

Thomas Wendt

Thomas has over 27 years of experience as a CEO, CTO and COO for several media and communications high-tech company start-ups that have helped define the IPTV industry, including Optical Entertainment Network (predecessor to U-verse), HD Giants, Sandstream, and Summa Entertainment. Thomas also has several media technology patents to his credit.

He is an expert at the economics and technology behind advanced next-generation entertainment

and communications distribution. He was also the principal contributor to Axion’s ATEC design, technical specifications, features, and functionality. Thomas is an accomplished industry leader and speaker who has served as an advisor to professional associations and government standards groups and has spearheaded Axion’s relationship with the State of Nevada.

Peter Vrettas

Administrative Officer

As a co-founder of Axion, Peter has been involved with the early development, funding, and management of the company. Peter has spent his entire career managing media development, video and music production, and media sales companies; serving broadcast networks, major corporations, and international gaming companies. He has served on the Board of Advisors for several media and television associations. As recent CEO of EDR Media, Peter managed the production of award-winning television shows and music programming for nationally-known brands, including HBO, HGTV, PBS, ABC Sports, MTV, DIY Network, Food Network, NBC Radio, and ABC News as well as commercials for over 50 national retailers.

Susanne Richard

VP Business Development

& Partner Relations

Susanne brings invaluable business development and supplier management strategy for FTTx deployment, along with the advancement of the service and technology into various markets. Susanne has held senior positions across several industries including healthcare, energy exploration and entertainment. Roles span executive management to CEO in organizations from multinationals to start ups. She is also bilingual and well networked into Latin America and Mexico and will be a major success factor in opening foreign markets for the Axion service. During the early phases of the company, Susanne will also be responsible for working with Axion partners to enroll them into the Axion working culture and ultimately into becoming part of the overall service.

Alan Larson

EVP, Operations

Alan has 25+ years in high-tech as a senior executive with leading US ISVs. He was Chief Operating Officer for a FTTx television distribution start-up and has deployed IPTV and Communications solution from head-end to the consumer living room.  He has 20+ years of experience in video, data, analytics, manufacturing and logistics management. He brings senior executive experience leading several organizations and working with customers across North and Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

Mark Pruneau

EVP Marketing & Programming

Mark has an extensive history working in the television distribution of both marketing and programming capacities.  He has worked with Charter, Optel, Century, and Time Warner Cable, bringing over 25+ years of expertise in developing subscriber based markets for the distribution of television programming.  He has also worked with the deployment of FTTx technology working with SandStream to license the first full programming line-up in the US for an IPTV distribution model.

Peter Vrettas

As a co-founder of Axion, Peter has been involved with the early development, funding, and management of the company, and initiated the relationships with key Partners. Peter has spent his entire career managing media development, production, and sales companies; serving broadcast networks, major corporations, and international gaming companies. He has served on the Board of Advisors for several media and television associations. As recent CEO of EDR Media, Peter managed the production of award winning television shows and national commercials for nationally and internationally known brands.

Werner van den Abeelen

SVP Product Development

& Manufacturing

Werner has been in the semiconductor industry in Silicon Valley for over 30 years holding technical and management positions in Product Engineering, Operations and Manufacturing.  He has been responsible for the roll-out of dozens of new products.  His experience includes Philips Electronics, Actel, National Semiconductor and Microsemi.  His most recent positions were VP of Operations Engineering and New Product Introduction.

Charles van den Abeelen

Director

Charles is an early investor in Axion and participated in funding the R&D prior to the launch of the company.  Charles was instrumental in helping the company to raise money during its Friends and Family funding round in 2016.  Charles is an industry expert in logistics and transportation as well as a serial entrepreneur.  His Charcy Company transportation and logistics business is a leading provider of services to the State of California.

James Fine

Director

James Fine is founder, President and CEO of Telecine, a Montreal-based digital design firm specializing in brand promotion, content strategy and media production for Fortune 100 companies around the world. Telecine is universally recognized as an industry leader and has received numerous prestigious awards, many for their ground-breaking work in digital media. In 2015 James was honored in London with the Industry’s Lifetime Achievement Award. James is a member of The International Quorum of Media Producers and served as a member of the board for several years.

Allen Easty

Chief Software Engineering Officer & Scientist

Allen Easty has over 20 years of software development and video experience, including seven patents in IPTV, networking, content delivery and UI design.  He has directed development of set-top box and TV delivery systems for seminal startups backed by Comcast, Microsoft, Sony and Cisco.  Most recently he was the CTO of Mesh Networks, a provider of patented campus Wi-Fi and IoT systems and networks.

Vaughn Watts

Chief Engineering Officer

Vaughn is currently VP, Systech and is recognized as an industry expert for mobile and computer technologies. A holder of 62 patents, Vaughn has reached the status of Fellow with both Texas Instruments and Dell Computer, a truly outstanding acknowledgement of his genius as an engineer.  In 2000 Vaughn received the esteemed PC Magazine’s Technical Excellence Award. As a past member of several industry Advisory Boards, Vaughn is one of the most sought-after hardware designers in the North America.

Fred Sylvester

VP Broadcast &

Head-end Operations

Fred has several decades of designing satellite dish farms, earth stations, broadcast facilities and head-ends.  Having built facilities for cable providers and FTTx providers, and having built broadcast network facilities for the major national affiliates, this will be Fred’s third time building out a commercial grade satellite head-end for IPTV services with this team.  Fred’s effort won an architectural design award for the SandStream IPTV head-end, network operations center and distribution facility.
